IJMB 2018/2019

Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination (IJMB) is an advanced level programme moderated and established in 1970 under statute 5 of the Ahmadu Bello University Law, to run the Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination (IJMB) as an alternative to ‘A’ Level Examination, for candidates who may wish to seek for undergraduate admission into Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and other universities. The programme was envisaged as a stop-gap or bridge after secondary school education, to prepare candidates academically, mentally and socially for the challenges of university education.

The IJMB examination is based on an approved IJMB syllabus which was produced by harmonizing the contents of the syllabus of the formal Higher School Certificate, London GCE, Cambridge A-level examination and the 100 level curriculum of Nigerian education.

IJMB is a qualifying examination conducted annually, mainly for Advanced Level (A-Level) subjects for admission into 200 level (Direct Entry) into Nigerian and foreign universities. In addition, two Ordinary Level (O/L) subjects ( English and Mathematics) are also offered as equivalent to WASC or NECO O-level, for candidates who may be deficient in them.

NO JAMB NOR UTME is required. Awaiting result is accepted for registration. Certificate obtainable does not expire and guarantees 200-Level admission instead of the traditional 100-Level admission given by JAMB. All that students need to enroll for IJMBE is their O-level result i.e WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, GCE (Awaiting Results are also accepted).

We have good centers in Lokoja, Kogi State; Abuja (FCT); Owerri, Imo State and Calabar, Cross-River States

More About IJMB

Why should I care about IJMBE?

In 2013/14 Session, 1,735,720 candidates registered for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME; out of which 1,540,179 candidates had their results released as 704,000 candidates crossed the 180 marks bar. This represents 40.5% admission rate. The 59.5% were left without admission and added to the next year. In 2014/15 Session, 1,632,172 candidates registered for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. In 2015/16 Session, 1,475,477 candidates registered, and less than 670,000 candidates crossed the 180 marks bar.

The number of applicants that gained university admission annually with UTME is not proportionate with the number of applicants that are qualified for admission by the virtue of scoring the minimum benchmark for admission. In fact, the tendency of securing admission yearly with JAMB after crossing the hurdles of the traditional UTME is declining as clearly revealed by statistics. THIS IS DUE TO NUMEROUS APPLICANTS USING THE TRADITIONAL PLATFORM OF JAMB TO APPLY FOR 100 LEVEL ADMISSIONS WITH LIMITED ADMISSION CHANCE.

IJMBE as a Remedy

The only way out of admission quagmire is for candidates to seek ALTERNATIVE WAYS to obtain admission into the universities. This ALTERNATIVE WAY is IJMB. IJMB has been a PROVEN, APPROVED, ACCEPTED and CERTIFIED Programme that qualifies students into 200 levels in Universities in NIGERIA and ABROAD without writing JAMB. Past TESTIMONIES from our graduated students is the proof of the acceptability, universality and reliability of the programme, IJMB.

  • PROVEN: Annually about 15,000 applicants put in for the IJMB, in which more than 12,000 candidates secure admission into 200 level in their choice universities and desired courses, easily consequently skipping the 100 level stress and cost as compared to JAMB with close to 1.7 million applicants and just 500,000 admitted into 100 level. THE DIFFERENCE IS CLEAR!
  • APPROVED: The programme is approved by Federal Ggovernment as a platform for securing admission into universities in Nigeria and outside. It's moderated by ABU, Zaria with different study centers nationwide.
  • CERTIFIED: IJMB is certified by Nigeria University Commission (NUC) as an A’ level programme that qualifies students into 200 level upon successful completion of the programme. This can be confirmed in the JAMB Brochure.
  • ACCEPTABILITY: IJMB is accepted in over 95% of Nigerian Universities and even abroad. Also IJMB certificate does not expire.
